Site prep and lay out
It's the end of June and we finally pulled a permit, which was months in coming. We'd accumulated free soil on the site from nearby excavations and cut down a few cypress trees that were crowding the house, but mostly we busied ourselves during the spring building the form panels and jumping to other projects. Last week, in anticipation of a permit, we buffed off the site, set batter boards, chalked out the foundation, and dug the footings for the back building.
Like Terra's house, Jack's house is anchored with three 20' x 24' rammed earth volumes grouped around the site. Unlike Terra's, two of Jack's volumes stack one on top of another. We're building those two volumes first so we have plenty of access for the mix rig and delivery conveyors. You'll see all this before long.
For now, take a look at the lot and the first phases of the work.
